The Audi A6 has been crowned Autocar Asian Car of the Year. The award, which is in its first year and has been presented at the Beijing motor show, seeks to recognise the best new car from across the Asian continent.
Judges rated the A6 ahead of the Ford Fiesta Saloon, Kia Sportage, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Passat and Volvo S60. Audi bosses will be presented with the award at the Beijing motor show next month.
Judges said: “Audi’s new A6 comes loaded to the teeth with tech and has taken the game considerably forward since its last incarnation. It comes with a class-leading diesel engine, refined interiors and pliant comfortable ride.”
The winner was chosen by a panel of 18 auto experts from each edition of Autocar published in the Asian region.
To be eligible for the award, entrants must be commercially available and in series production in three or more asian markets where Autocar magazine is published. Shortlisted models must have been launched between October 1, 2010 and 31 September 2011.
