Peugeot will showcase the Peugeot 208 GTi and HX1 concepts for the first time in the UK at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Hailed as a reincarnation of the iconic 205 GTi, the Peugeot 208 variant is powered by the same turbocharged 1.6-litre, four-pot unit as the RCZ THP 200. Drive is transferred to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.
External features of the reborn 205 GTi include chequered-flag decals on the concept’s grille, extended side skirts plus the addition of bumper splitters front and rear. A ‘GTi Concept’ logo is also adorned on the 208’s grille and rear-quarter panels as a nod to it’s venerable predecessor.
The low-slung, futuristic Peugeot HX1 also making its UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed is the French marque’s vision for a 2020 MPV. It’s powered by a 2.2-litre HDi engine up front, with extra shove coming from a 95bhp electric motor at the rear
Based on a ‘Metamorphosis’ theme, the HX1 can adapt to its driving and interior environments with active aerodynamics and flexible, modular 4+2 seating.
Peugeot will also showcase its Pikes Peak 405 T16 and RCZ Racing Nurburgring models at the event which runs from June 28 to July 1.
