A new BMW X1 xDrive25d tops the revised UK line-up of BMW’s compact soft-roader

A new BMW X1 xDrive25d tops the revised UK line-up of BMW’s compact soft-roader, when order books open in July.

The new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel-powered model gets 215bhp and 332lb ft and can crack 0-62mph in 6.8sec, while boasting economy and CO2 emissions figures of 51.4mpg and 145g/km. The £31,860 model replaces the xDrive23d model in the X1 range.

Other engines include the 141bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel for the X1 sDrive18d and X1 xDrive18d, and an uprated 181bhp 2.0-litre four-pot for the X1 sDrive20d and X1 xDrive20d. There’s also a lower-powered 161bhp version of that engine in X1 sDrive20d Efficient Dynamics, which has economy figures of 62.8mpg and 119g/km.

The revised BMW X1, first seen at the New York motor show last month in its UK specification, features subtle 1-series-inspired styling changes at the front and rear, but the real changes are inside where there’s a new centre console and higher-quality materials used to lift cabin ambience.

Prices for the facelifted BMW X1 start from £24,660 for the entry-level sDrive18d model in SE trim.
